Today was supposed to be a 6 mile pace run. Only had time for 5 miles w/one mile warm up and cool down, and it was a hard 5 miles. It is amazing how important recovery runs are and how heavy my legs felt today. The 2nd and 4th miles were up hill and difficult but I was still able to average around 5:59 or so. splits were 5:56, 6:18, 5:52, 6:14, & 5:41. I was stuggling mentally by the end and gave myself a lot of reasons to not do the extra mile. That is something to work on.
